Recently someone asked me how they could end their Facebook profile. I know, you are wondering why anyone would ever want to leave Facebook. I wondered the same thing. Turns out the person had two profiles and wanted to delete one. She had created one and her significant other had created one for her not knowing she already had one. So, one had to go. This could happen to you too. Or you could just decide Facebook is not for you, or a relative passes away and you want to close his account, etc. This is fairly simple.
You need to go the the page on Facebook that you want to delete.
1. Click on the little gear you see in the top right corner.
2. Click on “Account Settings” near the bottom.
3. The General Account Settings screen will appear. You want to click on the “Security” link on the left side of the screen.
4. At the bottom of the Security screen you will see a link to “Deactivate your Account.” Click on the link.
5. You will see a screen asking if you are sure you want to do this.
6. It will ask you your reasons for leaving. You have to select at least one reason for leaving facebook.
7. You have several other options regarding future emails, etc. and then at the bottom you will need to confirm your deactivation.
8. Once you deactivate, you have a number of days to change your mind and reactivate.
So there you have it, pretty simple to just disappear on Facebook. But my friends, I hope you stay!
